Annual Support Campaign
With an annual operating budget of over $650,000 the Friends of the Katy Trail strives to keep the trail clean, safe and beautiful for all to enjoy. The City of Dallas owns the property, but it is up to the people who enjoy and use the trail to sustain it through their generous, private donations. We depend greatly on our members and contributors to help us fund the daily operations of the trail.
To help meet this goal, each fall the Friends of the Katy Trail conducts an Annual Support Campaign. During the month of October we will set out to raise more than $150,000! We have had great success with this campaign in the past and know this year will be no different. We hope we can count on you to make a commitment to our 2013 Annual Support Campaign! Remember, the Katy Trail runs on you!
The Katy Trail is your personal oasis to enjoy. Please help us preserve this valuable gem by making a contribution to support the Friends of the Katy Trail. Click here to donate. The Annual Support Campaign is different from your membership; this is the one time of the year where we will ask you to contribute in addition to your membership.
Some Key Areas Where We Need Help From Our Friends:
$130,000 - Landscaping and Maintenance of the trail
Mowing, pruning and organic fertilization helps to keep the trail lush and green and provides an aromatic escape for your senses.
- A gift of $2,500 would help our plant life to thrive!
$25,000 – Security
Police Officers are on the trail approximately 30 hours per week, year round.
- A gift of $1,000 would help to bring peace of mind to the safety conscious.
$20,000 - Electricity
Annually, we spend approximately $20,000 in electricity to illuminate the trail, extending the days a little longer for your enjoyment.
- A gift of $500 could help us “keep the lights on”.
$6,000 – Irrigation & Drinking Water
Not only do YOU need a refreshing drink of water, but so do all of our plants and trees along the trail.
- A gift of $250 would help us quench the thirst of all living things.
$3,000 – Dog Waste Bags
Cleaning up after our furry friends is important in keeping the trail clean and beautiful.
